If you are looking to expand your personal gym, and you want elliptical machines for sale at the best prices, then please read our various reviews. This entire website is designed to provide the best information on elliptical machines for sale.

The editor is incredibly picky with ellipticals. If you see an elliptical reviewed here, it’s not simply because it’s available, like so many elliptical review sites. Rather, these are cherry picked for quality.

Best Elliptical Machines for Sale

One of the Best Resources for Elliptical Trainers for Sale

This may be ‘old news’ to you, but Amazon is one of the best places to find great deals.

In fact, when we review elliptical trainers, we make sure we check the best prices online – and many times Amazon will offer a great deal.

However, being picky, we have found in many cases that Amazon cannot match the direct-from-the-manufacturer prices. In those cases, we’ve linked directly to the merchants versus Amazon.

One of the benefits of looking through Amazon, however, is that they offer great details like customer reviews, and allow you to search a wide variety of elliptical machines for sale at great prices.

When it benefits you, we’ve linked to an Amazon.com deal in our reviews, otherwise we shop for the lowest pricing and best deals for our readers (usually ellipticals direct from the manufacturer).

When you’re searching for elliptical machines for sale, the first thought will probably be your budget. Before you settle on a dollar amount, however, I hope to guide you into what you should be looking for in terms of understanding the value of what you’ll purchase.

Do NOT Buy Cheap Elliptical Machines For Sale Without Considering…

Before you settle on a “firm $150″ price point, which may or may not get you that dust-collector waiting for you in your neighbor’s garage, let’s take a look at value. A rule of thumb is that an elliptical machine for sale at $500 or less may simply be a machine that won’t last. It will squeak, and will likely not provide the fluid action the elliptical was designed to deliver.

Don’t take my word for it, ask your local personal trainer’s opinion, or read some of my reviews. What you want to look for is a consistently smooth, elliptical motion. If the machine is jerky or erratic, if the joints on the machine wear out just after the warranty does (especially if it’s only a 60 or 90 day warranty!), the “under $500″ price tag is misleading. It’s much more expensive than that if it needs replacing every quarter.

Elliptical Machines For Sale

The same is true for most anything – if you buy $20 shoes, you think you save. Actually, you may be much better off with the $100 pair, since you won’t need to keep replacing the shoes. I don’t really review a lot of cheap stuff on this site, for a reason: they’re not really quality elliptical trainers.

I don’t review items to sell simply to sell them – I believe in quality, and have a passion for it in all things, especially when you’re talking an investment like looking for elliptical machines for sale. Hopefully you learn what to look for by reading this buyer’s guide.

Elliptical Machines In Action

Besides the dollar amount, however, if you buy one of these “disposable” models and are thus turned off to the elliptical phenomenon, then the resultant cost of the wear and tear on your body as you turn back to the treadmill or jumping rope (or other high impact alternatives) can’t be measured in dollars. How much does a knee cost? How about a lower spinal injury? A general rule of thumb is to expect to pay $500 for a decent, basic elliptical machine.

Because we are value-conscious, you won’t find many (if any) deals under $500 at this website. Our suggestion would be to save up for a quality elliptical, one you will get years of service from.

Whenever possible, we will link to a deal where you get elliptical machines for sale at a discount (see our reviews for examples).

For reasons of quality, we only try to review what we find are quality elliptical machines for sale, here are a couple to consider.

How to Find Valuable Elliptical Machines For Sale

  • Does the machine offer a true total body exercise option? Does it offer upper body exercise, truly? Beware of the “eye-candy” handles that attach to the foot pedals but have a poor mechanical ratio. In other words: just because there are handles, doesn’t mean they translate into a true upper body workout. Some low quality models pay homage to the upper body, but don’t be fooled. Try it out if you can, or at least read customer reviews. Does the upper body actually get a workout, or do your hands simply go along for the ride your legs provide?
  • True total body workouts increase your overall workout efficiency, burning more calories in less time. It also reduces the risk of injury by spreading the exertion over more muscle groups. Concentrating only on legs all the time is begging for an injury.
  • Does the machine offer any safety features?
  • Is the motion smooth or jerky?
  • Is it noisy? Do you want the train station sound effect, or would you rather be able to listen to your favorite music or TV program while exercising?
  • Does the machine offer a warm-up/cool-down period for a safe transition to “rest”?
  • How’s the stride length? Can it be adjusted (definitely a plus!)? A good rule of thumb: 21″ stride length is fantastic. 19″ is decent. 14″ is garage sale material, because on average we have 21″ stride length. The Yowza Fitness Captiva, Smooth Agile DMT and Agile DMT X2 as well as the Schwinn 460 all have a very adjustable strides, read our reviews for more information (found under “elliptical trainer reviews” in the header or sidebar).
  • Does the incline adjust? This is a great feature, as you will get more use out of the machine if it does. Think about the fact that as your body matures and your muscles are built, you’ll need to increase the intensity, the incline is a great way to do that.
  • Does it have a heart rate monitor? Calorie counter? If not, this is not a deal breaker, see our sidebar for the top two heart monitors and calorie counters that we know of.
  • Does it offer interactive features like programmable resistance, adjustable incline, programmable routines, multiple users if needed?
  • Will it fit in your place? This sounds weird, but when you’re on an elliptical, you’re off the ground some. The handles on many machines and location of the drive will also impact this. Ellipticals are longer and taller than most realize, and when you’re on the device: will you hit the ceiling?
  • Finally: what kind of warranty does it have? A good rule of thumb: high quality manufacturers offer 1-3 years for parts at minimum, 1 year for labor at minimum Our 2 favorite manufacturers are Smooth Fitness and Yowza Fitness – and both offer much more than the minimum warranty. Avoid anything with a 90 day warranty, unless you have money to burn.

As mentioned, we enjoy Yowza Fitness and Smooth Fitness the most. Both have a great deal going by selling factory direct online, as most of our hand-picked merchants do. Please read our Smooth Fitness and Yowza Fitness reviews for an in-depth explanation of why we think these are the best two companies to buy elliptical machines on sale.

Value is a premium at Elliptical Trainer Exercise. If you see an elliptical reviewed here, it’s a sign of quality.

Final Tip Choosing Elliptical Machines For Sale

Something else that can help make your decision is to simply try out the machine at a local gym or retailer for half an hour. Pay attention to the type of motion. Is it smooth or jerky? Is it easy enough to program? Is the device quiet? Are the handrails comfy? Is the stride natural for you? Can it adjust?

Granted, Smooth Fitness, Yowza Fitness and LIVESTRONG Fitness ellipticals are normally not going to be found in stores: they are sold online almost exclusively (which is why they are generally more affordable, but offer such high quality). Also, LifeCORE Fitness may be the only brand you might find in a local gym (or one of the Sole Fitness ellipticals we’ve reviewed, which are also at Hilton hotels).

Nonetheless, they are all some of the best brands out there. In the case of Smooth and Yowza models – they easily compete with Precor and LifeFitness models (two of the top brands, and most expensive club-models around).

Also note that Yowza Fitness has a deal where you can find local owners, and the company will help set up appointments with them so you can see their ellipticals in action.

The bottom line: your body and your health is worth a bigger price tag than what you may have initially considered. Keep this in mind as you make your final decision to buy. There are numberless elliptical machines for sale, and our commitment to you is to provide nothing but the best information you can rely on when shopping around.
